To get the perfect bath you need to balance it between art and science. After a really good bath you're left feeling calm and relaxed. However if you don't get it right it won't help at all.
The first thing you need is a peaceful surrounding and a tidy bathroom. This doesn't mean you have to go round scrubbing the toilets and basins before you start. Just making sure everything is put away and tidy will be fine.
When you run your bath you need to make sure you get the water temperature perfect. Try not to have it too hot unless you're planning a really long soak. You'll end up with a headache and sore skin if you make the water too hot.
As the water is pouring out the taps pour in any gels or liquid you're using. As they crash into the water they'll foam up giving you perfect bubbles. If you're using bath salts or any powder you need to make sure these go under the hot water too. They'll melt quicker and their aromas will be more pleasant.
Once you've got the actually water just perfect you need to set the mood. You don't want the main light on so just light a few candles. Just have a few tea light candles around the edge of the bath to help set the mood. If this is too dark or you want to have a read in the bath the light from a bathroom mirror would be perfect. Bathroom mirrors will cast a sensible but not over powering light over the bathroom.
Now you need the perfect music. Don't go for your usual music but instead try something designed to be relaxing. You need to switch off and your everyday music will just remind you of all your everyday stresses. Which will of course stop you relaxing.
